Introduction

The LDS Christus paint is a powerful representation of the Savior Jesus Christ that holds deep significance within The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). This iconic artwork, inspired by Danish sculptor Bertel Thorvaldsen's original Christus statue, portrays Christ with open arms, inviting all to come unto Him. With its meticulous attention to detail and profound symbolism, the LDS Christus paint serves as a reminder of Christ's divine role, teachings, and the eternal hope He offers to humanity. This paint by numbers kit delves into the significance of the LDS Christus paint, exploring its historical context, artistic elements, and its impact on the faith of Latter-day Saints.

Historical Context

The inspiration for the LDS Christus paint by number came from the original Christus statue, which was completed by Bertel Thorvaldsen in 1821. The statue gained international recognition and was eventually duplicated in various forms around the world. In 1950, the LDS Church commissioned artist Harry Anderson to create a painting based on Thorvaldsen's statue, specifically for the newly constructed North Visitors' Center on Temple Square in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Artistic Elements

This is a masterful piece of art that encapsulates the essence of Christ's mission on Earth. In the painting, Jesus Christ stands tall, with a gentle expression on His face and His hands extended forward.

The details are meticulously crafted, capturing the folds of His robe and the serene, compassionate look in His eyes. The use of light and shadow adds depth and realism to the portrayal, emphasizing the divine nature of Christ's presence.

Symbolism and Spiritual Message

The LDS Christus paint holds rich symbolism and spiritual meaning for members of the LDS Church. The open arms of Christ symbolize His boundless love, mercy, and acceptance for all. It serves as a constant reminder that no matter our imperfections or past mistakes, we can find solace and redemption in the arms of the Savior.

The painting's presence in LDS meetinghouses, temples, and homes reflects the central role of Jesus Christ in the lives of Latter-day Saints.

Impact on Faith

The LDS Christus paint has a profound impact on the faith of Latter-day Saints. It serves as a source of inspiration, reminding individuals of their divine potential and the path to eternal life through the teachings and atonement of Jesus Christ. The painting encourages individuals to turn to the Savior in times of difficulty, seeking His guidance, comfort, and strength.

Conclusion

The LDS Christus paint stands as a symbol of faith, love, and redemption within The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Through its historical roots, meticulous artistic elements, and profound symbolism, it portrays the Savior's enduring invitation to all to come unto Him.

For Latter-day Saints, the painting serves as a constant reminder of Christ's grace, mercy, and the power of His atonement. The LDS Christus paint continues to inspire and strengthen the faith of individuals, encouraging them to follow the example of the Savior and to strive for a deeper connection with Him.

Another comment, the finished picture is beautiful. I would order this again. I think my last order and review was based on the paint. There wasn't enough and I think it was just a mistake.

I have ordered many pictures from this company and am very pleased with them however the last one of the Christus had odd colors like purple on the face.. There was not enough of one color and one color was leaking when I opened the package.
I have been happy with my other orders, just not this one.

Hi Joann,

Thank you for reaching out! It sounds like you might have a defective or damaged paint set - I’m so sorry that happened! The packages are vacuum sealed for protection and to prevent the paints from leaking, so something must have gone wrong during shipping. I will send you a new set of paints (or a completely new kit if you'd like) as soon as we have the Christus design back in stock. Thank you for being a loyal and repeat customer! If there is anything else I can help you with, please do not hesitate to ask.
